Opening a Stripe account from Egypt: the real requirements, and what a "Stripe account service" can and cannot do

Stripe does not open accounts for Egypt, so the available route is a US account in the name of a company registered in the US. Stripe's published requirements line by line, what gets reviewed and when, Stripe for subscriptions and SaaS, and what any account-opening service can honestly promise.

The short answer

You cannot open a Stripe account for Egypt, because Egypt is not on Stripe's list of supported countries as of our last check of that list in September 2026. The route that is available is a US Stripe account in the name of a US-registered LLC, because Stripe's US account requirements page says a registered business must be registered in the US even if it operates from another country. The company and its EIN make you eligible to apply; Stripe then reviews the entity, the representative, the address, the website, the activity and the documents, and decides on its own. Any "Stripe account service" can prepare the company and the file. None can guarantee the decision.

Can I open a Stripe account in Egypt directly?

No. Stripe's list is about where your company is registered, not where your customers are; a customer in Cairo can pay any company running on Stripe in a supported country. No Egyptian tax card or commercial register changes that, because the gate is the country itself and there is no sign-up form for Egypt. The UAE is on the list, but a UAE account needs a trade licence or freelancer permit issued inside the UAE in the business's name; Is Stripe available in Egypt, Saudi Arabia or the UAE? sets out each country's conditions.

Before you go on: Stripe is not the only route and not always the right one. If your customers are in Egypt and pay in EGP, an Egyptian gateway is cheaper and simpler. If you only sell software, a merchant of record may spare you the company altogether. Payment gateway without a commercial register compares every route before you spend anything.

Requirements for a US Stripe account from Egypt

These are the items Stripe itself publishes, gathered into one table so you can see where you stand before you apply:

Item What Stripe asks for Where it is stated
A US-registered company A registered business must be registered in the US even if it operates from another country. An unregistered individual (sole proprietor) must be physically present in the US US account requirements page
An EIN The company's tax number from the IRS; Stripe verifies it together with the legal entity name and type Requirements page, and the IRS EIN page
The physical operating address The place where most of the company's activity is carried out; it may be outside the US for a US-registered company; PO boxes are not accepted Requirements page
The representative and the owners Stripe verifies the representative's details; the requirements page names an SSN or ITIN among what it verifies, and the verification page names a government photo ID, proof of address, formation documents and beneficial-owner details; exactly what you are asked for appears in the dashboard Requirements page and verification page
A link showing what you sell A website, app or social-media account you use to promote or sell; a social account works if it shows the product Website page
A bank account in the payout currency Payouts go to a bank account whose currency matches the payout currency, generally in a country where that currency is official; for a USD US account that means a USD account at a US provider in the company's name Payouts documentation
An activity that is neither prohibited nor restricted The prohibited and restricted list is representative, not exhaustive, and restricted categories need prior approval Restricted businesses page

Watch the address line in particular, because it is the one most often filled in wrongly. If you run the company from your flat in Mansoura, the flat is the operating address, and Stripe lets you update the business address in the dashboard. The registered agent's office is where the state sends legal notices, not where you work, and writing it as your place of business is a false statement. Registered agent address vs virtual address vs business address explains what each field asks for.

What Stripe reviews, and when

The review is not one moment; it is three:

  1. At sign-up. You enter the entity, representative, address, link and bank details, and Stripe runs its initial verification.
  2. At activation. Stripe's restricted-businesses FAQ says Stripe reviews every account and all related information independently at activation, and that review decides whether the business is supported. The company forms without objection; a refusal, if it comes, comes here.
  3. After activation. Stripe can ask for further documents at any time and can close an account and hold funds if it finds restricted activity or mismatched details. The restricted-businesses page also lists, among prohibited uses, cross-border acquiring where the merchant's business address is outside the jurisdiction of the Stripe entity receiving the payments "unless permitted under the card network rules"; read next to the requirements page that allows operating from another country, that means a US company run from Egypt is a case Stripe evaluates itself when you apply.

The order that falls out of this: the state forms the company, the IRS issues the EIN, the bank reviews the account, and Stripe reviews the application. Four parties, four decisions, and none of them binds the next.

What does a "Stripe account service" actually do?

Search for "Stripe account service" or "buy a Stripe account" and you will find two kinds of offer, and the difference between them is the difference between an account that lasts and one that gets closed.

What a legitimate service can do:

  • Form the US company in your name, obtain the EIN in the company's name, and prepare the formation documents Stripe and the bank ask for (what each US LLC document does explains each one).
  • Prepare the application file with you: the business description, the site pages Stripe looks for (pricing, contact, refund policy, delivery), the representative's details, and the right address in the right field.
  • Help you apply for a US business bank account in the company's name, and follow up with the bank and with Stripe when they ask for documents.

What no service can do:

  • Guarantee Stripe's or the bank's decision. That decision is theirs, on your company, your activity and your identity.
  • Open the account in someone else's name, identity or address. The verification page asks for the representative's and beneficial owners' identity, and Stripe checks that the website is yours. An account verified on another person closes as soon as the details are reviewed; buying a ready-made Stripe account explains why.
  • Get a restricted activity through. If your activity is on the list, read it before paying anyone.

Foundlie works on exactly that split: formation, the EIN and the documents are work that gets done and finished; the Stripe account and the bank account we prepare and follow up with you, and the decision sits with the provider. The accepting payments from Egypt page states what is guaranteed and what is only assisted, and our record with the customers who asked for both.

Stripe for subscriptions and SaaS from Egypt

If your product is a monthly or yearly subscription, that is exactly what Stripe is built for: the Stripe Billing documentation describes subscription management, recurring invoices, trials, renewals and a customer portal where the customer manages their own subscription. There is no separate "subscriptions" account; the same US account above runs subscriptions.

But before you form a company for subscriptions, compare a merchant of record such as Paddle: it sells your product in its own name, collects the applicable tax in the markets it covers, pays you your share, and may not need a US entity at all. The trade-off is control and fees: put the merchant of record's current fees on your expected volume next to Stripe's processing fees plus the company's yearly cost, using each provider's own pricing page. The payment gateway without a commercial register comparison places the merchant of record next to the other routes.

Before you apply: a readiness checklist

On the company side:

On the site and activity side:

  • A website, app or business page that shows what you sell, at what price, and to whom.
  • Contact, pricing, delivery and refund-policy pages exist and are easy to find. The Stripe website checker reviews your site against these items before you apply.
  • Your activity is not on Stripe's prohibited list. If it is restricted, ask Stripe about prior approval rather than assuming eligibility.
  • You can truthfully write the address you actually work from, and your own identity is the one on the account.

When this is the wrong answer

Your customers are in Egypt and pay in EGP. A US company and Stripe add an annual cost and US filings without adding anything for your customers. Use an Egyptian gateway.

You have one or two business clients who pay by transfer. Payoneer receiving accounts or a bank transfer are simpler and cheaper than a company; Payoneer or a US business bank account explains the limits.

You only sell software and a merchant of record covers your markets. Compare its fees with the company's cost plus Stripe's fees first.

Your activity is in the prohibited or restricted categories. The company will form, and Stripe will refuse or close later.

You are looking for someone to open the account under their identity or address. That is not a route; it is a closed account on a delay.

Frequently asked questions

Can I open a Stripe account in Egypt?

No. Egypt is not among the countries where Stripe accepts sign-ups, so there is no sign-up form for Egypt at all. What is available is an account in the name of a company registered in a supported country, most commonly a US LLC, and Stripe reviews the company, the activity and the representative before activation.

What are the requirements for a US Stripe account?

According to Stripe's pages: a company registered in the US (even if it operates from Egypt), an EIN, the physical operating address with no PO boxes, the representative's and owners' details with verification documents on request, a link that shows what you sell, a bank account in the payout currency, and an activity that is neither prohibited nor restricted. The table above gives the source for each item.

What exactly does a Stripe account service do?

A legitimate service forms the company in your name, obtains the EIN, prepares the application file, the site and the documents, and follows up with the bank and Stripe. What it cannot do is guarantee the decision or open the account under another person's identity or address. If someone promises a guarantee or a ready account, that is not an account-opening service.

Does Stripe accept an address in Egypt for a US company?

The requirements page asks for the physical place where most of the company's activity is carried out, says a US-registered company may operate from another country, and rejects PO boxes. So your real address in Egypt is what goes in as the operating address, and Stripe evaluates the case when you apply; the registered agent's address is not a substitute.

Where does Stripe pay out to?

The payouts documentation says payouts go to a bank account whose currency matches the payout currency and which is generally in a country where that currency is official. For a USD US account that is a USD account at a US provider in the company's name. From there, a transfer to Egypt is an ordinary international transfer with both banks' fees.

Does Stripe support recurring subscriptions?

Yes, through Stripe Billing on the same account: subscription plans, recurring invoices, trial periods and a customer portal. If you only sell software, compare a merchant of record first, since it may spare you the company.
