Why do prices differ by state, and why is Delaware more expensive over time?

Each state has a different government filing fee and, more importantly, a different annual fee after year one. Delaware has a flat $300 annual franchise tax paid to the state — the highest of our states — so it is usually a better fit for fundraising plans. Wyoming suits most lean operating cases thanks to its low fees.

Formation is paid once. After year one, the registered agent renews at $100/year, plus your state's annual government fee if it has one (none in New Mexico, $300 in Delaware).
